Issue No. 19

We are hoping spring is just around the corner.

So here it goes, round 19…

But first- a favorite recent patient quote:

“DOCTORS MAKE THE WORST PATIENTS.” -DR.O

(R)eading: Dr. O’Connell has been reading study after study after study to prepare for our upcoming Perimenopause Education Night with OsteoStrong. It will include learning all about hormones and bone health during perimenopause from Dr. O’Connell and Amy Malouf, owner of OsteoStrong. There will be a 40-minute joint presentation, followed by a Q&A session. Tea and lighthearted fun will be provided.

When: April 9th, 2026 from 5:30pm to 7:00pm
Where: OsteoStrong, 3111 Denali Street, Ste 102, Anchorage, AK 99503
Who: Women 35 years and older
Perks: Bring a friend and enter to win a bodywork visit (acupuncture or massage) or a 5-visit modalities punch pass (from OsteoStrong)!

(E)ating: It has been chilly and this Vegetable Soup is super easy to make and is also a great way to use any leftover veggies you might have on hand. This adds both time back to your schedule and vitamins when we need them most.

(P)laying: We have been playing outside in the evenings after work and have been extra grateful for more daylight and the sunshine that has been coming our way.

(O)bsessing: We have been obsessing about our latest offering, Executive Health Map Sessions. It’s a 90 minute, comprehensive intake designed for Alaska executives and high‑performers who want long‑term oversight, not one‑off sick visits. It is a SWOT Analysis for your physical and mental performance markers.

During your visit, we review your full‑body DEXA body composition scan, take a detailed history of your health and performance, review existing labs, and map out a clear 2 month plan to increase your longevity, resilience, and output. You’ll leave with a written Executive Health Map that outlines your current baseline, key risks, and our recommended path through our membership and program options.

If you choose to begin a program within 14 days, we apply the full $495 from your session toward your chosen package, so the net cost of getting clarity is zero if you move forward. This session is the single doorway into our practice and the call to action for all of our talks, referrals, and outreach.

If you already have a package or membership with us, please share this with a friend or 10!

(R)ecommending: We recommend getting an Analog Alarm Clock and/or putting your phone in another room before you hit the pillow at night. It takes away the temptation to doom scroll before one of the most important parts of the day.

(T)reating: We vote you treat yourself to a lap break or two while at work. It looks like setting a timer every hour (or two, or three) and getting up from your desk and walking around your building and/or going up and down a flight of stairs. It is a good brain break.

We hope your April has moments of outside sunshine in it!
