Coordinates Health CareHousehold Duo

Household Duo — a shared position session

Two people. One position.

You'll decide the next decade together — almost always from two different maps. The Household Duo gives you one map, and the next decision that comes from it.

One shared position for the household. One next decision — owned by the two of you.

A shared session for two · one Household Allocation Summary you keep.

Why a duo?

The household is the unit the decision lives in.

This practice isn't built around a body, a device, or a number. It's built around a decision — the next consequential one. In a household, the decisions that matter — how hard to keep operating, when to change course, what each of you needs to be able to do in ten years — are never made by one person.

They're made at a kitchen table, by two people holding two private versions of the facts. Most health products treat you as two customers. The Household Duo treats you as one unit — the unit the decision already lives in.

What is Household Duo?

Two Position Fixes, read as one frame.

A Position Fix is a precise, current read of where a person stands — not where they assume they stand. The Duo runs two of them, then reads them together as one frame — a single read of where the household stands, not two reports to set side by side. For each person, that read comes from a body-composition scan, a resting-metabolism measurement, and a short health questionnaire, reviewed by a clinician — alongside recent laboratory results, where they exist.

Why not two separate fixes?

Two readings aren't a position.

Two separate fixes give you two directions. A single bearing tells you a heading; it takes a second, read together with the first, to fix an actual position — the place where the two cross. Two separate appointments leave you two readings to reconcile. The Duo produces one: where the household stands, and what that means for the decision in front of you both.

The relationship isn't a markup on two readings. It's the only thing that turns them into a single position.

If one of you is more "in"

A different level of motivation is the normal starting point.

That's the usual way a household arrives here — not a problem to solve first. One person has usually been thinking about this longer, and the other is somewhere between curious and reluctant.

The Duo is built for that. It doesn't ask the second person to be talked into anything. It asks both of you to see the same position once — and then lets certainty, not persuasion, do the rest. The reluctant partner usually decides at the reading itself — not before it.

Arriving with two different levels of motivation is expected here. It's the condition this was designed for.

What you carry out

A shared position — and the decision that's yours to make.

  • Where the household stands
  • What each of you is carrying into it
  • Where attention belongs first — one of you, or both
  • The one decision in front of you, named

What you carry out is the Household Allocation Summary — one household-level read you keep. It turns both fixes — and any existing lab work behind them — into a position, then the position into your next decision. A recommendation you carry, not a verdict handed down. The decision stays yours.

Who arrives here

Most people arrive because something changed.

  • A milestone birthday made the next decade feel real
  • Retirement stopped being abstract
  • Someone close got news that landed
  • One of you got the other to come look

If that's the two of you, you're in the right place.

This practice works with a small number of households at a time. The depth is the point.
