The first month of the year has officially closed out and it was full of a lot, both good and not so good. If the world around you is feeling a little more than heavy, we hope our latest REPORT makes for a good distraction.
So here it goes, round 17…
But first- a favorite recent patient quote:
“THANKS, MOM.”
(R)eading: Dr. O has been listening away to the Leaphorn and Chee Series by Tony Hillerman. It has been a great throwback to the 70s and intermixes realistic crime solving and rich roots from the Navajo culture.
(E)ating: Easy Cinnamon Baked Apples have been a hit around here lately. They pair really well with your favorite yogurt or ice cream variety and/or can make for a simple breakfast or snack option.
(P)laying: Wild ice skating! Have you done it?! We highly recommend getting out on your nordic or figure skates and giving it a try. It is a great way to get in wholesome movement with friends and family, all while soaking in fresh air and beautiful mountain views. Be sure to check out ice reports before giving it go and leaning into safety.
And- cross country skiing trails have been in good shape. NSAA puts out great Trail Updates and has beginner and advanced skate ski lessons for adults coming up in February if you want to claim one of the few spots left or get yourself put on a waitlist.
(O)bsessing: We have been obsessing over Satsuma stem and leaf oranges this time of year due to them being in season and providing high amounts of vitamin C. They can be found at Johnny’s Produce, along with their superb wellness shots made up of ginger, turmeric and lemon juice.
(R)ecommending: We recommend purchasing a ticket to the next Arctic Entries show. It is a local storytelling event featuring seven storytellers with three rules: it is a true story, the story aligns with the chosen theme for the evening and is seven minutes in duration.
It makes for a great date with whomever you choose and supports two local non-profits in the Anchorage community.
(T)reating: We vote you take a few minutes to watch this classic tootsie roll commercial. It will put a smile on your face. We are all chasing after our own center and sometimes it can feel a little tricky to find.
Did you lick, suck or bite your tootsie pop when you had one?!
