Summer is here and you are doing great!
So here it goes, round 10.
But first- a favorite recent patient quote:
“WE GIVE LOVE NUDGES AROUND HERE SO YOU’’LL HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT.”
(R)eading: We recently came across this article and thought it was a keeper. Time with family can be simple, affordable and creatively fun (all ages and humans included).
(E)ating: Eating is important and food is neither good nor bad! We have been encouraging our clients (and ourselves) to think about what they can ADD to their meals and snacks versus take away; especially when it comes to nourishing foods like fruits, vegetables, legumes and warm spices like cumin, turmeric and cinnamon. We get a lot of messaging around food and our bodies that can lead to fear and unhelpful restriction.
Carbs are friends!
Food can be fun and nourishing.
If you are stuck in a rut with food and feel like your relationship with it is a struggle, keep our packages in mind. Winona Benson provides nutrition consultations and is one of the best. She is super supportive and will encourage you to make lasting, positive changes.
(P)laying: One of us has been playing in the mountains but not as intensely as she usually would this time around. This is your love nudge (or permission, shall we say) to take pauses during your outdoor adventures this season. Not all things need to be done speedily. You just might notice more around you and actively connect with others you are with, too.
(O)bsessing: We have been obsessing over different ways to save on money and waste when it comes to food this month, especially with fruits and vegetables. If you haven’t noticed, Costco ain’t cheap. Check out our recent instagram post to learn more.
And, take a field trip to the Sunday Fresh Market O’Malley one of these weekends! Local produce, fun for the kids and a slow stroll for the DINKs in your life.
(R)ecommending: Have you been struggling with “Alaska Summer Guilt” feels? Yes? Us, too. We highly recommend you schedule in some down time amidst all of the crazy and fun things that come with summer and a push to be outside. The light is bright, the sunshine has been beaming and all the activities are calling but… you do not need to answer or even respond. You are allowed to relax and be inside.
For real, schedule a “break” or “tea time with myself” or “get that stretching in,” in your personal calendar. It is a lot more likely to happen.
(T)reating: We vote you treat yourself to a beverage from That Feeling Co. and if you are feeling fancy, grab yourself a plant to add some fresh green feels into your life, too. As an office, we have vetted their different beverages and can 100% say we have not once been disappointed.
